The South Yorkshire Moors is an original cartographic guide to the moorlands of South Yorkshire and part of northern Derbyshire. The book covers the open access moorland of Kinder Scout, Bleaklow, Howden, Derwent, Stanage and the Eastern Moors, seeking out less-travelled routes across these popular parts of the Peak District. There are detailed sketches and extensive notes on local history, wildlife, geology, etymology and the long fight for access to these wild spaces on Sheffield’s doorstep.

Over twenty suggested routes are included, offering different approaches to the high points and remote corners of the Dark Peak, most of which are accessible by public transport.

“One of our bookshelves has over twenty books of walks in the Peak District. So when I first heard that yet another was about to published I was intrigued to see if it would add anything new to our already extensive range. I’m delighted to say that the answer is a resounding YES! Chris has produced a remarkable book. It is full of wonderful illustrations, maps and a wealth of information. I can’t recommend it highly enough.” (Mel Bale, Peak & Northern Footpaths Society)
